Engr. Leye Kupoluyi has been elected president and chairman of the council of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Mr Kupoluyi succeeded Gabriel Idahosa whose tenure ended earlier this month.
His emergence was announced after securing the required votes at the chamber’s 137th Annual General Meeting held in Lagos.
LCCI director-general Chinyere Almona confirmed the election, noting that Kupoluyi had served as a council member and deputy president before his elevation.
Kupoluyi, an engineer with more than four decades of professional experience, has worked across power engineering, facilities management, renewable energy and trade promotion.
He previously led the chamber’s Trade Promotion Board between 2021 and 2023, during which he introduced the Tech Hub Project and supervised a free-entry initiative at the 2022 Lagos International Trade Fair.
He began his career at Honeywell Enterprises Ltd. and later at Witt & Busch Ltd.
In 1995, he founded Universal Power Systems Nigeria Limited, where he serves as managing director and chief executive officer.
Kupoluyi is a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom.
He holds an MBA in Technology Management from Olabisi Onabanjo University and completed a Senior Management Course at the University of Manchester.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (UK).
He has also served on the Governing Council of Lagos State Polytechnic from 2015 to 2019.
Within civic and professional circles, he has received several recognitions, including the ECOWAS International Gold Award and the Rotary International Entrepreneurship Service Award.
Almona said Kupoluyi’s leadership is expected to support the chamber’s policy engagement and its work in promoting a stable environment for businesses.
His election marks the beginning of a new leadership phase for the chamber as it continues its work in shaping business policy and supporting commerce in Lagos and across Nigeria.
