Ayotomide Labinjoh, the mother of a teenager at the centre of a renewed paternity controversy involving Afrobeats singer Davido, has publicly challenged comments made by the singer’s father, billionaire Deji Adeleke.
Labinjoh posted her response on Instagram on Wednesday, rejecting Mr Adeleke’s statements and insisting that her daughter’s father should speak to her directly.
She wrote: “Dr Deji Adeleke: You cannot intimidate us, sir. As the patriarch of the family, you should not be talking on David’s behalf…. Let David address me.”
She also added: “I’m not Sophia negotiating child support. If anything happens to me, my daughter and my mum, the police should hold you responsible.”
Labinjoh denied that multiple DNA tests were conducted in 2020 as claimed by the Adeleke family, saying she and her daughter never met with Mr Adeleke for four additional tests.
She addressed the role of journalist Kemi Olunloyo, whom the Adeleke family said was managing social accounts linked to the dispute, saying that Olunloyo helped open the Instagram account years ago but that the family now posts independently. “We are not in touch with Dr Kemi even though she posts about us,” she said.
Mr Adeleke has said multiple DNA tests conducted over the years showed that Davido is not the biological father of Anuoluwapo Adeleke. “Even if it is done 10 times, it will not change. It is like a fingerprint,” he said.
He also said he personally supported Anu’s education and upkeep for several years through the child’s aunt, without telling his son or other family members.
The billionaire accused Ms Olunloyo of impersonation and defamation, saying she was using accounts he believes are not under the control of Anu or her immediate family. “She has been lying and lying, using an account that does not belong to her, impersonating a child and the child’s mother,” he said.
The paternity dispute resurfaced after Anuoluwapo appealed on Instagram for a fresh DNA test, saying years of unanswered questions about her identity have caused her emotional pain and bullying at school.
Davido has addressed the matter on social media, saying the several tests already conducted showed negative results and calling for the issue to be dropped.
