Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced the return of his landmark Yoruba epic, King of Thieves (Agesinkole).

Taking to his Instagram page, he shared a video, saying:

“King of Thieves – Agesinkole, we didn’t just make a film, we made history. It wasn’t just another epic, it was a cultural masterpiece that redefined the box office. With tickets selling for just N1,500, Agesinkole shattered records and silenced doubts, making N322 million at the box office. A Yoruba epic, breaking barriers, rewriting the rules, and setting a new standard for greatness. We released it during Ramadan, a period many called ‘slow season’, but we turned that silence into a storm and staged the Ramadan holidays as a gold mine for cinema openings.

“Opening the gates of global acceptance for Nigerian indigenous storytelling to prove that our culture isn’t just local, it’s legendary. It became the highest-grossing film for 2022. Beyond the milestone, it became a movement. A symbol of pride. A statement that our craft, our language, our essence belong to the world stage. With your love and support, we have kept the fire burning, with the action-packed Agesinkole, the warlord epic Jagun Jagun, and the emotional masterpiece Seven Doors. Looking at what Agesinkole achieved, we knew it couldn’t end there. Legends don’t fade, they return stronger. Now the wait is over. Agesinkole is back!”

The announcement follows a weekend teaser from Femi, in which he posted: “You felt his wrath once… Now, prepare for the rebirth. Legends don’t die, he was only waiting for the right time.”

Agesinkole, originally released in April 2022, was directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani and produced by Femi Adebayo.

The film, a Yoruba-language epic, earned N322 million at the box office, making it the third-highest-grossing Nollywood film of the year. Its premiere was celebrated for redefining glamour and pride in Yoruba heritage.
