Muhammadu Buhari

A book presentation will be held on December 17, to mark the first posthumous birthday of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari, who died on July 13, would have turned 83.

The book, “Headlines & Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration”, was written by Lai Mohammed, who served as Minister of Information and Culture during Buhari’s administration from 2015 to 2023.

It documents communication, governance and nation-building during the period, including Mr Mohammed’s work in information management, cultural development, tourism promotion and national orientation.

The event will take place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja at 10am.

It will be chaired by Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State and pioneer Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, will serve as Royal Father of the Day.

Aisha Buhari, wife of the late president, will serve as Mother of the Day.

A group of businessmen and industrialists will act as Chief Launchers.

They include Kesington Adebutu, Aliko Dangote, Abdusamad Rabiu, Nasiru Danu and Kola Oyefeso.

The keynote address will be delivered by former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Oladapo Afolabi, on the topic Nigeria’s Unfulfilled Global Community Expectations.

The book will be reviewed by Segun Adeniyi, former presidential spokesman and chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay Newspaper.

Speaking on the publication, Mohammed said it serves as both a commemoration of Buhari’s life and a reflection on the policies and values that shaped his presidency.

According to the Book Launch Committee, which is organising the event, the publication provides an insider chronicle of governance and communication during Buhari’s tenure.
