Ladoja’s Olubadan coronation celebrations to hold September 22 – October 3

The coronation celebrations of the Olubadan-designate Rashidi Ladoja have been scheduled to begin on Monday, September 22 and end on Friday, October 3.

According to the programme of events, the celebrations will open with a special inter-religious prayer session at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, at 12 noon.

On Tuesday, September 23, a special coronation cultural fiesta will take place at Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku, by 11:00 a.m.

The following day, September 24, the first coronation lecture will be delivered by historian Prof Toyin Falola at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, also at 11:00 a.m.

September 25, which coincides with Ladoja’s birthday, will feature a special Islamic prayer session at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a mega praise and worship event at Ibadan Civic Centre at 2:00 p.m.

The coronation proper will hold on Friday, September 26, at Mapo Hall, beginning at 9:00 a.m., while a reception will follow at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium) at 1:00 p.m.

On Sunday, September 28, a thanksgiving service will be held at the Catholic Cathedral, Oke Padre, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a civic reception at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, at 11:00 a.m.

The celebrations will close with a special Jumat service at the Central Mosque, Oja’ba, on Friday, October 3, at 12 noon.

Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, was nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on August 4 by the Olubadan-in-Council.

His nomination followed the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died at the age of 90.
