Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s film Recall has been nominated at the Septimius Awards 2025 in Amsterdam.

Kunle shared the news on Instagram on Thursday with pictures of the nomination letter and flier.

“Our film RECALL has been nominated at the Septimius Awards 2025 in Amsterdam @septimiusawards.

“We are honored to have:
Kunle Afolayan – Best Producer
Olarotimi Fakunle @olarotimi_fakunle – Best African Actor
Sharon Ooja @sharonooja – Best African Actress

“This recognition is a huge win and a testament to the incredible talent, creativity, and passion poured into this project.

“Big congratulations to the cast, crew, and everyone who made RECALL possible,” the Anikulapo director wrote.

The letter from the Septimius Awards director Jan-Willem Breure, confirming the nominations read, “Olarotimi Fakunle (Rotimi Fakunle) (Best African Actor), Sharon Ooja (Best African Actress), Kunle Afolayan (Best Producer) has been invited to visit the Septimius Awards on 3-4 September 2025 in the Netherlands, Amsterdam.”

Recall premiered at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in November 2024 before its cinema release on April 4.

The supernatural psychological thriller follows Goke (Olarotimi Fakunle) and Anita (Sharon Ooja), a married couple whose 10th wedding anniversary is upended after Anita suddenly loses her memory.

The movie also stars Jimmy Jean-Louis, Patience Ozokwor, Bimbo Akintola, Idowu Philips (Mama Rainbow), Shan George and Tosin Martins.

Recall, produced under Afolayan’s KAP Motion Pictures, earned N8.5 million in its opening week and grossed a total of N9.18 million across Nigerian cinemas in that period.
