Actor Kunle Afod has shown support for his colleague Jigan Babaoja whose ambassadorial deal was recently terminated.
Jigan, whose name is Abimbola Kazeem, has been in the news over his involvement in a controversial WhatsApp group linked to discussions about late singer Mohbad. The actor has also raised alarm about receiving threats and having his phone number leaked online.
Reacting to the situation, Kunle took to Instagram on Thursday to post a photo of Jigan alongside a message of encouragement.
“Abimbola a brother and a friend
Every stage in life we learn one thing or the other
Am sure you are really learning through this process
Stand up
Stand strong
@jiganbabaoja
We love you,” he wrote.
Jigan recently lost a brand ambassadorship with Rods Hotels and Apartments barely a month after the contract was signed. In a statement shared on social media, the company said the decision was based on their commitment to guest safety and accountability.
Following the backlash, the actor went live on TikTok to beg for forgiveness, saying, “Only Mohbad can defend me.”
He also took to Instagram to reveal that his personal number had been leaked online and that he had received several threatening messages and calls.
“This is exactly what was done to Mohbad… I will not take it lightly with anyone involved. I will ensure that justice is served. I will not be bullied,” he wrote, calling on the Nigeria Police Force to intervene.
