Presiding pastor of Master’s Place International Church Pastor Korede Komaiya has responded to criticism over his sermon titled “I Will Never Follow a Poor Pastor.”
The message had attracted attention and sparked debate on social media in recent weeks.
In a video broadcast, Pastor Komaiya explained that his sermon was “misunderstood, misquoted and blown out of proportion.”
He said the message was meant to emphasise the role of “kingdom wealth” and benevolence in ministry, adding that “nothing attracts people like loving them.”
The cleric highlighted the steps his church takes to support its staff and their families.
According to Komaiya, the ministry provides scholarships for all staff and their children, covering education and health needs.
He stated, “The concept of employer and employee does not apply in our ministry. All our staff are on church scholarship. Anyone who is a staff of the ministry, all their children are on church scholarship, education we pay for it, health 100 percent, any health crisis, our ministry pays for it.”
He also noted that the church has extended support to non-members, impacting lives financially and otherwise.
Korede Komaiya urged Christians and the public to verify news about clerics to avoid spreading misinformation.
He warned that mischief makers often target pastors and churches to create controversy.
The pastor’s response comes after parts of his sermon were widely shared online, leading to discussions on clergy wealth, church management and the role of financial stability in spiritual leadership.
