Filmmaker Kemi Adetiba has announced her next project, an epic film titled The Stool, as she begins the search for actors.
She shared the news in a video posted on her Instagram page on Thursday.
In the video, the director said, “I’m building something bold. I’m building something extremely rare and alive with characters that no one would ever forget.”
She introduced herself saying, “ It’s Kemi Adetiba, director of Wedding Party 1, King of Boys 1 and 2, and the new hit series on Netflix, To Kill a Monkey, and I’m very excited to share something special with you today. It’s been eight years since my last film, and this was intentional. I was waiting for a story I felt was so special that I had to tell it. And now I’m ready. This is going to be my fifth project, my big five, and up until now, I have kept a lot of the details very close to the chest. But today, I think it’s time that you hear more about it from me. So, my next film is an epic called The Stool. And I’m looking for actors who are not afraid to feel. I’m searching for actors who understand that every choice that they make on screen matters, and they’re not afraid to feel. I’m looking for you. Now I was going to hold live auditions in Lagos and across.”
Kemi is known for directing The Wedding Party, one of Nollywood’s highest grossing films, as well as King of Boys and its sequel, which later expanded into a Netflix series.
Her recent project, To Kill a Monkey also knowns as TKAM, was released on Netflix on July 18, 2025, and drew attention for its storytelling and production. The film also received nominations at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, further adding to her track record in the industry.
