Filmmaker Kemi Adetiba marked her 46th birthday on Thursday by sharing a personal message on Instagram where she reflected on the past year and revealed news about her next project.
The director, known for films like The Wedding Party and King of Boys, said that 2025 “stretched me, refined me, and unlocked new levels of growth… creatively, spiritually, and personally.”
In her post on Thursday, Adetiba expressed gratitude for her family, friends, health, and achievements. “This new year now brings a new challenge… and I’m ready,” she wrote, adding that she is “officially in pre-production for my fifth film… my Big 5.”
She did not reveal the title, referring to it for now as #ThrBig5, and promised more details soon.
Adetiba described herself as a storyteller at her core and thanked supporters for their encouragement. “Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for growing with me. Thank you for building this community with me,” she wrote.
Last year, Adetiba released the crime thriller series To Kill a Monkey on Netflix. The eight‑episode series, written, directed, and produced by Adetiba with her production company Kemi Adetiba Visuals, premiered on July 18, 2025.
To Kill a Monkey stars William Benson, Bucci Franklin, Stella Damasus, Bimbo Akintola, and others in a story that follows a man drawn into cybercrime by an old friend, testing his principles and survival instincts. The series drew wide attention online, with viewers praising the cast and production while discussing its themes and storytelling.
Adetiba also released the official music video for “Save Me,” the lead track from the To Kill a Monkey soundtrack, featuring veteran singer 2Baba and her husband Oscar Heman‑Ackah.
