Ozor Odonwodo, father of actor Junior Pope, has died—one year after the tragic passing of his son.
The actor’s widow Jennifer Awele broke the news in an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday. She shared a video montage featuring her late husband, his father, and other family members.
“Barely one month ago, I was with you in Enugu,” she wrote.
“Some days later, Reme (my mother-in-law) called to ask how I and her boys are doing and further went to say that her husband has gone to meet my husband.”
Jennifer said she screamed upon hearing the news but quickly composed herself as her mother-in-law broke down in tears.
“Ozor Luke Odonwodo is one man that genuinely loved me,” she wrote.
“I’m so thankful I got to spend time with him even though short, unknowingly in his last days.”
Describing him as an octogenarian who lived a full life, Jennifer praised her late father-in-law for his sacrifices and devotion to his family.
She added that he died having reaped the fruits of his labour.
She concluded her tribute by expressing her faith in the resurrection promise, writing, “Adieu father and son… You are sorely missed but we hold onto the resurrection promises in John 5:28-29 and Acts 24:15.”
Junior Pope died on April 10, 2024, after drowning in the Anam River while returning from a movie shoot with four others. He was 43 years old.
The actor married Jennifer in 2014 and they had three sons together.
