Tanzanian singer Juma Jux has revealed how he convinced influencer Priscilla Ojo, daughter of actress Iyabo Ojo, to convert to Islam before their wedding.
The musician made this known in an interview with Millard Ayo, where he explained that the process wasn’t easy at first, but he got help from religious leaders who guided him on how to approach the matter with patience.
“Yes, a little bit difficult convincing her,” he said.
“On the other hand, I was receiving lessons from religious leaders and people who are keen about the religion. So there’s a way that they were teaching me with regards to how to convince her. ‘Go with her slowly, teach her this and that, tell her this and that.’ So I took some time, she later on understood.”
Juma also revealed that he had a dream about their union before the wedding and knew things would fall into place.
“I knew everything when it came to my wedding. I had a dream about it. I was so lucky to find someone who wants the same thing as I.”
The couple had their white wedding in Lagos on April 19, followed by a ceremony in Tanzania.
Juma, who has publicly praised Priscilla in interviews and in his music video ‘God Design,’ surprised her with a Range Rover as a wedding gift.
In March, he celebrated her birthday with a heartfelt message, saying, “Since you came into my life, everything started making sense.”
In another interview, Juma expressed his commitment to taking care of Priscilla’s mother, Iyabo Ojo and her father, saying he plans to invite them to Tanzania once they have children.
The singer’s revelation about Priscilla’s conversion has sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising their love while others expressed concern about changing faith for marriage.
Priscilla, 24, is a fashion entrepreneur and social media influencer. Her relationship with Juma Jux became public in late 2024 after months of speculation.
Their union has since drawn attention across Nigeria and Tanzania due to their cross-cultural and now interfaith journey.
