Comedian and actor Julius Agwu has lost his mother.
The entertainer announced the sad news on his X (formerly Twitter) page on Wednesday.
Julius shared an emotional video of himself surprising his mother on her farm. The clip showed her working as he quietly approached from behind. She screamed in joy upon seeing him, and they shared a warm embrace as he proudly said, “this is my mother.”
He captioned the post, announcing that his mother had died. Julius wrote that his mother would be dearly missed and prayed for her soul to rest in peace.
“My dearest mother has gone to be with the Lord. Mama Gee, you will be dearly missed. Rest in peace,” he said.
According to reports, Julius’ mother died after a brief illness. The family is said to be making private burial arrangements.
Fans and colleagues have flooded the comment section of his post with condolence messages, praying for the family to be comforted.
Julius, who battled a brain tumour in 2015, has often spoken about how his mother’s prayers and support strengthened him during his recovery.
The latest loss adds to a string of bereavements in the entertainment industry.
Last month, actress Mercy Aigbe announced the death of her mother, Mrs Abisola Owodunni, posting a candlelight photo with the caption, “RIP mum.”
In August, Odunlade Adekola lost his father, Pastor N. A. Adekola and shared a tribute on Instagram, writing, “Rest well, sir.”
