Actress Juliana Olayode has praised Mo Bimpe for using her latest movie, Healing, to spark conversation about HPV, a virus many Nigerians still know very little about.
Juliana, in a post online, admitted she first heard about HPV when Mo Bimpe told her she would be making the film. “I heard about HPV for the first time when Mo Bimpe told me she’ll be doing a film on HPV. All my life I’ve never heard of it. Thank you for using your platform to create an awareness on HPV. I am so proud of you and your work,” she said.
She reflected, “One of the things I learnt from seeing Healing is that ignorance is costly. I also learnt that as a society, we need to stop shaming people. When it comes to marriage, we must have the difficult conversations and be willing to give grace to our partners. When we encounter problems or challenges, we should go through it together in love. I can go on and on. We all need to get tested, especially women. Let’s go do our HPV test. Above all, let’s do all we can to take care of our health and stay healthy.”
Healing was released on YouTube on Friday and stars Mo Bimpe, Lateef Adedimeji, Gabriel Afolayan, Zainab Bakare, Ronke Odusanya and Remi Surutu.
The film tells the story of a married woman whose life is turned upside down after an HPV diagnosis.
Secrets, betrayal, and stigma all come into play, showing how health and relationships are deeply connected.
