Lead pastor of The Fountain of Life Church Jimmy Odukoya has paid tribute to his late mother, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, two decades after her death.
In a post shared on Instagram, Pastor Odukoya reflected on the passage of time, noting that it has been 20 years since she died.
“Hey Mum …Today marks 20 years since you’ve been gone …Where did the time go? One thing is for sure; I have carried you everyday with me since God took you home…Your rings stay close to my heart and I remember with every beat that I miss you…”
He said he has carried her memory with him daily since “God took her home,” adding that her rings remain close to his heart as a reminder of her presence.
Speaking on the events that have unfolded in his life since her death, the 38-year-old said his mother had predicted he would one day become a pastor.
He wrote that he once thought her belief was misplaced but now acknowledges that her words came true.
“Guess what?! You sure were right! I did end up becoming a Pastor. The whole time I thought you were crazy but I guess the joke is on me!”
He also addressed what his late mother would have thought of her grandchildren, saying they are aware of who she was because he has made efforts to keep her memory alive.
According to him, they know her as “Heaven Grandma.”
Odukoya added that he is committed to carrying on her legacy and expressed hope that he is making her proud.
He ended the tribute by sending greetings to his late father.
Bimbo Odukoya died in the Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 crash on December 11, 2005. She was 45.
