Actor and producer Jide Kosoko’s historical film Eleko (Oba Esugbayi) grossed about N18.3 million during its opening weekend in cinemas across Nigeria.
Jide shared the figure on his Instagram page on Tuesday and thanked moviegoers for their support.
He wrote: “THANK YOU NIGERIA!!
“A big thank you to everyone that showed us support in the best ways that you could, none of it went unnoticed 🙏🙏. We are super grateful.
“ELEKO (Ona Esugbayi) is still showing Nationwide!!”
Eleko (Oba Esugbayi) opened in Nigerian cinemas on March 20. The film tells the story of Oba Esugbayi Eleko, a Lagos monarch who resisted British colonial authority in the early 20th century.
The movie was produced by Jide under his Jide Kosoko Film Presentation banner, directed by Adebayo Tijani, Babatunde Kosoko and Tunde Olaoye, and distributed by Genesis Pictures.
Femi Branch stars as Oba Esugbayi, with Jide Kosoko, Sola Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Saidi Balogun, Dele Odule, Yinka Quadri, Yemi Solade, Adebayo Salami, Jumoke Odetola, and Broda Shaggi in supporting roles.
