Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami and several other Nollywood stars turned up in style to support Odunlade Adekola at the burial ceremonies of his father, Pastor Nathaniel Adekola, held in Ekiti and Abeokuta.
The pastor, a minister in the Christ Apostolic Church, died in July at the age of 84.
The burial arrangements began with a service of songs on August 18 in Abeokuta, followed by a wake keep and lying in state in Otun Ekiti on August 20. He was interred on August 21, the same day a thanksgiving and reception were held in his hometown.
Celebrities including Muyiwa Ademola, Ibrahim Chatta, Eniola Ajao and Ireti Osayemi joined the Adekola family in Ekiti. The actors wore matching Ankara outfits in solidarity with their colleague.
The ceremonies continued on Saturday, with a grand reception in Abeokuta at H3 Event Centre. Mide Martins, Lateef Adedimeji, Toyin Abraham and her husband Kolawole Ajeyemi, Sanyeri, Madam Saje, Mercy Aigbe and her husband Kazim Adeoti, Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Itele and Adeniyi Johnson were among the celebrities spotted at the event. Most of them also appeared in coordinated attire.
Videos from the interment in Ekiti showed a massive crowd likened to a campaign rally. Odunlade himself went on all fours to greet the officiating clergy in respect for his father’s spiritual legacy.
