Actor Jide Awobona has transformed into a woman for his upcoming film Rise With Me, which highlights the strength and resilience of women.
In a promotional post on Instagram on Monday, he was seen dressed as a woman carrying a baby.
He captioned the post, “I celebrate the unbreakable spirit of women who rise above adversity, shatter glass ceilings, and inspire generations to come.”
He also announced that Rise With Me will be released on his Jide Awobona TV YouTube channel on December 26, 2025, and encouraged followers to subscribe and turn on notifications.
Jide’s transformation is meant to reflect the film’s focus on women overcoming hardship.
In Nollywood, actors have also taken on roles requiring them to appear as the opposite gender. IK Ogbonna dressed as a woman in the 2018 film Disguise, while Chinedu Ikedieze, also known as Aki, has appeared in costume as a woman for a movie role.
