Jazzman Olofin calls out Adekunle Gold for sampling song

Singer Jazzman Olofin

Singer Jazzman Olofin has accused Afropop star Adekunle Gold of sampling his 22-year-old hit ‘Raise Da Roof’ without permission.

Jazzman made the allegation in an Instagram post on Tuesday after sharing a clip from Adekunle Gold’s London performance where the band played the hook of the classic track.

Reacting to the performance, the singer wrote:
“I’ve got no issue with an artiste freestyling another artist’s song on stage for a second as a sign of respect. It’s cool.”
“BUT when you go through a great length to actually rehearse my 22-year-old monster hit song with your one million man live band… haba.”

He added that he may not be making the same type of music as the new generation but he is still active and deserves proper recognition.
“I may be a little too old to be singing your generation’s music, but I’m certainly not too old to spend your generation’s money. Mr @adekunlegold, I’m still actively performing. Don’t beat around the bush. Next time, call baba.”

Adekunle Gold, who has been leaning more into Fuji and old-school influences in his recent performances, has not responded to the allegation as of press time.

Jazzman Olofin, known for early 2000s hits like ‘Shake Body’ and ‘Raise Da Roof’, has previously spoken about respecting the work of veteran artistes in the industry.
