Actress and filmmaker Jaiye Kuti is celebrating a box office milestone after her latest film, Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary, earned more than N20.7 million in cinemas.
The achievement was announced on Instagram late Monday in a collaborative post with Nile Entertainment, the film’s distributor.
The post read: “N20.7M+ AND COUNTING. Nigerians, E SEUN PUPO NIGERIA! You showed up big for Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary movie and it’s a box office sensation! God bless you all. Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary is STILL SHOWING in cinemas nationwide, this is your chance to experience this masterpiece on the big screen. Call your squad, get your tickets, and let’s have fun.”
Directed by Oluwale Adebayo, Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary was released in Nigerian cinemas on May 22.
The film follows Jaye and Dotun, whose lives become intertwined by an ancient spiritual pact that shapes the course of their relationship and destiny.
Its cast includes Wasiu Pasuma, Femi Adebayo, Bimbo Oshin, Antar Laniyan, Ibrahim Yekini, Faithia Williams and content creator Maryam Apaokagi-Greene.
