Dancer and reality TV star Liquorose has revealed that her first love has always been music, adding that she had actively pursued a career in it long before Big Brother Naija brought her into the spotlight.
In an interview with media personality VJ Adams, the former BBNaija finalist said she spent a lot of time recording music before entering the reality TV show.
“I love music too much. I’ve always wanted to be a musician. Yeah, I’ve been recording. There was a time when I was always in the studio before I went for BBNaija show. I was very hungry with music,” she said.
Liquorose, whose real name is Roseline Afije, added that although acting is now her comfort zone, the desire to make music remains strong.
“I know that feeling because I’m a poet and I write. If the music isn’t sounding like that, I know I could do better. And I work with writers as well now and stuff. I wanted to ignore music because I’m like I love acting.
“Acting is like my safest place right now. I’m comfortable, I can act till like I’m 80 or 70 years old. But the urge to make music remains strong. But you see music, there’s a side of me that people have not seen. And it’s my music side.
“And one thing I need people to know is that the sound won’t just be for you to dance. It’s going to touch you. I can do dancehall, I can rap if I want to, because I write poems. I can’t sing like Beyoncé, but I can hold my own.”
Liquorose was already popular before BBNaija as a member of the GGB Dance Crew. She has also featured in movies and series such as The Johnsons, HEX and The OAP. She is also known for writing poetry and once shared poems on social media before her rise to fame.
The entertainer, who became the first BBNaija Season 6 housemate to hit one million Instagram followers during the show, has continued to build a multifaceted career in acting, dance and influencing, but insists fans are yet to meet the “music side” of her.
She has not announced a release date for her debut project, but her recent comments suggest that music may soon become the next major chapter in her career.
