Brand influencer Priscilla Ojo has denied claims circulating on social media that she described postpartum depression as an illusion caused by poverty.
The claim emerged after a screenshot shared on X alleged that the influencer and new mother said she did not experience postpartum depression and suggested the condition was linked to financial status. The post quickly gained traction online, drawing criticism from several users.
Reacting her Instagram story on Friday, Priscilla dismissed the statement as false and demanded proof from those spreading it.
“I never said this, what’s wrong with Twitter people? Be ready to provide evidence!!” she wrote.
She further described the claim as insensitive to women who have experienced the condition, adding, “What do you mean I said ‘postpartum is an illusion caused by poverty’ Insulting to mothers, very insensitive.”
Postpartum depression is a recognised mental health condition that affects some women after childbirth. Medical experts note that it can occur regardless of social class or financial status and may require professional support if symptoms persist.
Priscilla, daughter of actress Iyabo Ojo, welcomed her first child in 2025 and has previously spoken about receiving family support during her postpartum period. She has not publicly claimed that postpartum depression is unreal or linked to poverty.
