Ini Edo prays for Nigeria’s healing at Buddha temple in Thailand

Actress Ini Edo has offered prayers for Nigeria during a recent visit to the Big Buddha Temple in Phuket, Thailand.

The 43-year-old shared photos and videos from her trip on Instagram, explaining that she had always been fascinated by Buddhism and used the opportunity to explore the religion during her vacation.

“As a tourism enthusiast, my favourite thing about travelling is exploring diverse cultures, food, religions and ways of life,” she wrote.

“I have always been intrigued by Buddhism, so I visited the Big Buddha Temple… I sha made a wish that Nigeria will get the healing we so desperately need. Twas indeed an experience.”

The actress also shared her excitement about Thai cuisine, describing it as familiar and homely.

“Thai food makes me feel sooo at home… spicy and fresh. Love ya ❤️,” she added.

Ini’s post drew mixed reactions from social media users. While some praised her for being open-minded and spiritual, others expressed concerns over her visiting a non-Christian religious site.

One follower wrote: “Everyone has a right to their belief and religion. So long as love is your ultimate religion.”

Another said: “Thou shall not worship any other god beside me, our God is a jealous God. Y’all be careful who/what you follow out there.”

Located on Nakkerd Hill, the Big Buddha is one of the most revered landmarks in Phuket. The 45-metre-high statue is a popular destination for tourists and spiritual seekers, offering a space for reflection and prayers.

Ini Edo, who hails from Akwa Ibom, is one of Nollywood’s most celebrated actresses with a career spanning over two decades. She welcomed her daughter via surrogacy in 2021.
