Sam Ethnan Air Force Base Officers’ Mess in Ikeja is preparing to host an Independence Day Tombola Night on October 3 at 8 p.m., an event expected to blend celebration with entertainment.

Organisers say the evening will feature a raffle draw, comedy and live music by DJ Santao alongside Hypeman Gentle. Guests will also get a chance to win prizes ranging from household appliances such as refrigerators, fans, kettles, irons, sound systems and water dispensers, to cash rewards. The star prize of the night is an elephant cow.

The gathering is part of efforts to mark Nigeria’s independence in grand style and foster camaraderie among officers, their families and the wider community.

A Tombola Night, common in military communities in Nigeria and Sri Lanka, is a social event where players mark off numbers on tickets as they are called out, with prizes awarded to winners. It traditionally serves as a night of music, laughter, food, and dancing, while strengthening community bonds.

The Sam Ethnan Air Force Base Officers’ Mess promises attendees an evening of fun, excitement, and unforgettable memories.
