Big Brother Naija season 10 winner Imisi has spoken about her strained relationship with her mother, saying she is open to forgiveness.
She made the remarks during an interview with Channels Television, where she reflected on their past and the possibility of reconciliation.
“She is my mom, and I’m a woman, I know the pain it takes to bring a child into this world,” she said. “If God wills it… yeah, I can forgive her. I’ve forgiven people who aren’t even related to me, so of course I can forgive her.”
Imisi said they did not share a strong bond while she was growing up.
“Growing up, we didn’t really have a strong relationship. But I don’t have anything against her. She’s doing well, and I’m doing well,” she said.
Asked what she would like her mother to know, she responded: “Honestly, I don’t know. Maybe she should just be a better person. But she should keep praying the Lord is with her.”
The issue became public months after Imisi won season 10 of Big Brother Naija. Her mother had appeared in videos online accusing her of neglect after the show. Imisi later said their relationship had been strained long before her rise to fame and that she had been offering support.
The situation drew reactions from celebrities and fans. Actor Olatayo Amokade, popularly known as Ijebu, urged her to reconcile with her mother. Reality TV star Phyna also shared words of encouragement. Actress Nkechi Blessing later apologised after asking a question about the issue at Imisi’s birthday celebration, which sparked debate online.
