I’m uncertain about securing ADC presidential ticket for 2027 – Peter Obi

Peter Obi

Former Anambra State governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2027 presidential aspirant Peter Obi has said he is uncertain about securing the presidential ticket of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He spoke in a video message shared with supporters, where he addressed questions about his political future and opposition activities.

Mr Obi said he cannot be certain of the party’s nomination.

“Someone asked me how I know for sure that the ADC will give me the presidential ticket. I cannot be certain. What matters is that we are committed to a cause,” he said.

He said his focus is on the broader political objective rather than personal ambition.

“I keep wondering how we ended up in this situation and what might happen if we decide to stop working on this project,” he said.

Obi said he remains committed despite challenges and reported threats.

He also spoke about opposition politics in Nigeria and acknowledged the support of his followers.

“I thank you for your sacrifice. It’s not easy to be in the opposition in Nigeria,” he said.

He added that he appreciates those who continue to support him without immediate benefit.

Peter Obi also raised concerns about political alliances and said outcomes cannot be predicted.

“How can we be certain that the people we’re working with right now won’t leave us behind tomorrow? I wish we could be sure, but we can’t,” he said.
