Singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has responded to Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti following comments about comparisons between him and Seun’s late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Wizkid took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday to address Seun directly. He wrote, “Pussy boy Ebigbirdkuti ok I big pass your papa!! Wetin u one do ? Fool at 40!.”
In another post, the singer added, “I’m big wiz everyday bigger than your papa! Wetin you wan do?”
The Grammy winner also shared his reaction on X, formerly Twitter, where he criticised Seun’s actions and referenced Fela’s legacy.
He wrote, “Fela fight for freedom this fool Dey fight fc! Oloshi Omo ale !”
The exchange follows remarks made by Seun Kuti during an Instagram live session in which he warned Wizkid’s fanbase, known as Wizkid FC, against comparing the singer to his father.
Seun said, “Wizkid FC, keep Fela’s name out of your mouths. You try to claim that your fake artiste is the new Fela… It is actually an insult to compare Wizkid to Fela.”
He also accused the fans of acting out of ignorance. “You people have no respect. If your lack of respect came from a place of defiance, I would respect it. But your lack of respect comes from a place of ignorance,” he said.
Seun further criticised the constant online rivalries involving fans, saying, “Wizkid fans are online disrespecting Fela again. Why must you always involve Fela in your petty discussions?”
The Afrobeat musician has also previously accused Wizkid of adopting a nickname he claims to have used first. In an earlier livestream, he said, “Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original… This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it.”
The back and forth has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
