I’m a victim of attacks on Christians in the North – Abel Damina

Abel Damina

Founder of Power City International Ministry Pastor Abel Damina has said he is a victim of attacks on Christians in Northern Nigeria.

In a video shared on his social media pages, Pastor Damina said, “Whether you call it genocide or you don’t call it genocide, let me speak as a victim. I am not just a student of research. I’m speaking as a victim of these circumstances around innocent Nigerian people, where innocent lives have been taken away by some people who think they have more right than others in this nation.”

He recounted attacks on his family and church in Samaru, Zaria in the 1980s, when people poured petrol on the building and set it on fire.

His family escaped and took shelter in a military barracks before relocating.

Damina also referenced incidents in Kaduna and other northern states.

He said, “A few years ago, I was preaching in Kaduna… the next thing I was hearing is that the whole Kaduna was on fire. Please, stay indoors, they are burning churches, and they are killing everybody. That is how we were stuck in a hotel. Even in a hotel, we were not sure of ourselves… Unfortunately, a friend of mine, Reverend NorthCourt Andrew, was caught in the midst of this… They hacked him to death, dug the ground and buried him there and put a cross there.”

He described attacks during gospel crusades in Kano and the ongoing impact of extremist groups taking over villages in Borno, Plateau, Benue and Southern Kaduna.

He said people were forced into IDP camps and warned that the government must act to protect lives.

Abel Damina added, “The IDP camps need to be emptied, let the people go back to their homes, let people go back to their villages, let people go back to their farmlands, let people go back to their habitation, so that they can live normal lives… I believe in God that the day has come when this menace will surely come to an end. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Amen.”

His statements come amid claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria by United States President Donald Trump.
