Reality TV star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has announced plans to run for political office.
Tacha made the declaration during an interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
According to her, Rivers State, where she hails from, has failed to reach its full potential despite the abundant talent in the state.
“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos, and I see how far they’ve come, and with the potential Rivers State has, they’re not trying to exploit it. It’s just very disappointing because there are so many youths, so many talents there… a lot can happen,” she said.
Tacha, who became popular after participating in the 2019 edition of Big Brother Naija, added that she would give more details about her political plans when they are 70 percent complete.
“It is something I’m working on. I’ll have to make it 70% done before I can talk about it, because it does not make sense granting interviews like this, talking about the government without being involved,” she added.
Although she did not disclose which political position she intends to contest, the 28-year-old hinted she is preparing behind the scenes.
Tacha has been involved in several social advocacy projects since leaving the Big Brother Naija house. In 2022, she led a voter registration campaign in Rivers State to encourage youth participation in the 2023 general election.
