Skit maker and actor Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has said he was physically assaulted by officers of the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Police Command and that his phone and his brother’s money were taken from him.

In a video posted on Facebook on Friday, Lande was seen with injuries and bleeding around his eyes, while people around him poured water on his face. The footage also shows him inside what appeared to be a police station, trying to make a report.

In the message that came with the video, Lande wrote:

“I came back from the UK 6 days ago and was attacked and beaten by police in Nigeria. They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life.”

Lande did not provide details on where or how the alleged assault began, but said it happened just days after he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.

As of now, the Nigeria Police Force has not publicly responded to the allegations or confirmed whether an investigation has begun.

Ijoba Lande is known for his comedic skits and roles in Yoruba-language productions. He is active on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where he shares content with millions of followers.
