Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, former senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish, has gone viral online following a moment during the thanksgiving service of his new ministry, The Family Fellowship.

The event, themed “The Best Song of All,” was held on Sunday as part of the “May Thanksgiving and Last Dance Miracle Service.”

Videos from the service, shared by City People on Instagram, showed worshippers stepping out with their offerings. One man, however, stole the spotlight when he dropped what appeared to be a bundle of cash—either naira or dollars—sparking wide reactions on social media.

“Before you criticise, know that the hall cost more than 13 million naira per day and the pastors are very successful lawyers,” one Instagram user wrote in response to the video.

“Business is going well 😂😂😂😂,” another commented.

Someone else joked, “Dat drummer wants to tear d drum as he sees the offering 😂😂😂😂.”

A supporter wrote, “I heard about what this man and his family has done for the church and body of Christ then I loved him more than a G O.”

Another remarked, “THOSE WOMEN DEY EYE THAT HUSBAND MATERIAL.”

One stunned viewer simply asked, “Wetin that guy dropped with two hands 😂”

Pastor Iluyomade launched The Family Fellowship after he was suspended from RCCG in June 2024, following controversy over the timing of his wife’s lavish 60th birthday celebration held shortly after the tragic death of prominent church member and former Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe, in a helicopter crash in the US.

The Family Fellowship held its first public service on January 19, at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Leading up to the launch, Pastor Iluyomade hosted private fellowship meetings at his law firm in the same area.

Promoting the launch on Instagram, he wrote, “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience.”
