Ibrahimovic nets four as PSG trounce Troyes to clinch French title

Sweden Striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, scored four times to help Paris Saint-Germain hammer Troyes 9-0 on Sunday at the Parc des Princes – thereby clinching a record fourth straight French Ligue 1 title.

Laurent Blanc’s team opened up a 25-point gap ahead of second-placed Monaco with eight matches of the season remaining.

And the capital club did that in fascinating fashion to set a new record, becoming the earliest champions in Ligue 1 history and also the first team to be crowned champions across Europe’s top five leagues.

It caps a great week for the Paris-based club after they beat Chelsea 4-2 on aggregate in the Champions League to progress to the quarter-finals.

Three goals in the opening 19 minutes, scored in a six-minute spell, put the game beyond struggling Troyes, who are bottom of the table.

Edinson Cavani broke the deadlock before Javier Pastore and Adrien Rabiot completed a devastating period for PSG.

Ibrahimovic then struck a nine-minute second- half hat trick, taking him to 101 Ligue 1 goals since he signed from AC Milan in 2012.

An own goal from Matthieu Saunier made it 7-0 before Loosemy Karaboue was sent off when he gave away a penalty, which Cavani missed but tucked home the rebound.

Ibrahimovic made the numerical advantage pay when he netted his fourth of the match late on, to complete an astonishing 9-0 win.

The Parisians – alongside Olympique Marseille, is the joint-most successful club in France with six league titles.
