Actor Mustapha Bakare, popularly known as Otolo, has claimed that fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta currently commands the highest appearance fee in Nollywood.
In a trending online interview, Otolo alleged that Chatta charges N5 million per role and sometimes appears in over 20 movies a month.
Otolo said, “If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid N5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest paid actor presently. So, my point is that he can do up to 20 jobs in a month. I brought him to my movie, ‘Jigi’ set in Ogbomoso recently.
“You can’t compare him and other young actors to some of us that are being paid between N250,000 – N300,000 and appear in just one or two films in a month. So, that is the reason it’s difficult for some of us the veterans to produce cinema movies.”
Ibrahim also benefits from his Africhatta Film Village in Oyo State, a facility used for shooting cinema projects, giving him additional leverage in negotiations with producers.
Over the past few years, Ibrahim has been active in several cinema releases.
He featured in the 2022 Yoruba thriller King of Thieves, sharing the screen with major actors like Odunlade Adekola.
In 2023, he starred in Adire, a cinema release that grossed millions at the box office.
In 2024, he played a central role in the historical epic Lisabi: The Uprising, which premiered on Netflix and also had a theatrical release.
