Former Ogun State governor and ex-senator Ibikunle Amosun has lost his brother Oyesiku “Sheko” Amosun.
His death was reported by the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday.
The deceased, aged 65, has been buried in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
A statement issued by Oyetola Amosun on behalf of the family said Mr Oyesiku died on Friday evening.
According to the statement, he observed Jumu’ah prayer and led Asr prayer at White House, Ibara Mosque before his death.
The family said, “With heavy hearts and total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah, the Sanusi-Amosun family announces the passing of Alhaji Oyesiku Amosun.”
It added, “May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
The burial in Abeokuta was attended by family members, associates and sympathisers.
Ibikunle Amosun reportedly cancelled a planned Umrah trip to remain in Nigeria with his family.
The family also announced that the eighth-day Fidau prayer will be held on Saturday.
