Lagelu FM broadcaster Kola Oladapo ‘Mr Nice Guy’ dies at 45

The media community in Oyo State is mourning Kola Oladapo, an on‑air personality popularly called Mr Nice Guy.

He was a senior broadcaster with Lagelu FM 96.7 in Ibadan and had worked in radio for more than 15 years.

Oladapo died on Saturday, December 27, after a brief illness.

In a statement, Lagelu FM described Oladapo as a broadcaster who used his platform to inform, entertain and connect with his audience. “He was a man of many talents who wore his greatness with humility and grace,” the statement said.

Tributes also came from state leaders. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed sadness, prayed for Oladapo’s soul, and offered condolences to his family and colleagues. Tolulope Akande‑Sadipe, member of the House of Representatives for Oluyole Federal Constituency, said Oladapo’s work “strengthened democracy and gave a voice to the voiceless.”

Born in Ibadan around 1980, Oladapo was known for his delivery and professional approach. He worked with Lagelu FM and Splash FM 105.5 and was respected for his dedication and connection with the audience.

He was married and is survived by his immediate family. Following Islamic tradition, Oladapo was buried in Ibadan, with colleagues and friends attending the ceremony.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists in Oyo State described his death as an irreparable loss and honoured him as a committed media professional whose work left a lasting impact.
