I would have sued if it was a big blogger, Chiwetalu Agu on death rumour

Actor Chiwetalu Agu has debunked a viral report claiming he is dead.

The 69-year-old on Friday shared a video of himself along with the screenshot of the report on his Instagram page.

The screenshot read: “Veteran Nollywood Legend Chiwetala Agu Passes Away at 66! Shocking Battle with Diabetes & Spine Surgery Ends in Tragedy! … (R.I.P) (1956-2025).”

Disregarding the post, chiwetalu said: “I woke up to this very post, all because of likes, views and comments a blogger wrongly announced my death. All because of likes, views and comments a blogger posted rest in peace with my picture.

“Now let me shock you, I Chief Chiwetalu Agu of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State is not going to die anytime soon. Instead I will be the one to bury my enemies. Na who dig pit go fall inside. I am yet to carry my grandchildren, I must carry them in good health when my children are ready.”

The movie star added that if the report had been shared by a popular blogger he might have gone to court for defamation, cyber harassment, economic and business damage.

He continued: “Lo and behold it is a poor blogger. He or she is even struggling with like and views. Dear bloggers I know this is most attention you’ve ever gotten. ‘Chiwetalu Agu responded to your post’ I guess she can now die a happy person.”

Chiwetalu expressed disappointment that people were quick to type RIP without checking if the news was true.

He captioned the video: “Fans and family, please disregard any rumors about my death, and kindly report the page of the blogger who started spreading them. I am very much alive by God’s grace.”

The actor joins the list of entertainers recently targeted by death rumours. Only days ago, juju legend Ebenezer Obey released a video to dismiss claims that he had died or suffered a stroke.

Ebenezer, who appeared alongside his sons in the clip, described the news as “lies from the kingdom of darkness” and assured fans that he was alive and well.
