Nigerian-American businessman Simon Guobadia has spoken out for the first time since his marriage to reality TV star Porsha Williams ended in a messy divorce.
The 61-year-old, who was recently deported to Nigeria over immigration issues, claimed in an interview with Page Six that he was “targeted from day one” and regretted ever getting married to the Real Housewives of Atlanta star.
“I was targeted. This was a $5 million rehab project I took on,” he said, suggesting he was exploited for his wealth.
Simon and Porsha tied the knot in November 2022, but the union barely lasted 14 months. Porsha filed for divorce in February 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalised on June 11, 2025.
A US judge upheld the prenuptial agreement signed before their wedding, ruling that Simon would pay Porsha $40,000 per month in alimony for 14 months, totalling $560,000. She was also granted the right to live in their Atlanta mansion rent-free for the next three years.
Unhappy with the ruling, Simon vowed to challenge the prenup in court. “I’m going to fight this thing all the way to the Supreme Court if I have to,” he said.
Meanwhile, Porsha Williams has also broken her silence, describing the divorce as a “nightmare.”
Speaking in an interview with People, the 44-year-old said she filed for divorce after learning about Simon’s immigration troubles and legal complications.
“I did what I had to do. It was not about infidelity. It was about protecting myself and my daughter,” she said, referring to her six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Porsha added that by Valentine’s Day 2024, she noticed Simon had become emotionally distant and had a “dark look” in his eyes. She said the marriage became unbearable and she had to act fast.
“I had to hire a lawyer immediately to secure my home, my daughter, my future. It wasn’t about money, it was about safety,” she said.
Despite the split, she thanked Simon for being a good co-parent to her daughter and insisted she did not regret the marriage.
Simon, on the other hand, has returned to Nigeria and is using his experience to launch a T-shirt campaign with slogans like “FREE SIMON” and “NO ICE THIS SUMMER.” Proceeds, he said, would go towards supporting prison reform causes.
He has also filed a defamation suit against Porsha, demanding $75,000 in damages over alleged false and harmful claims.
Porsha has since returned to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for season 16 and is also part of the upcoming season of The Traitors.
