I was devastated, gospel singer Judikay opens up on sixth pregnancy loss

Gospel singer Judikay has spoken about the pain of losing a pregnancy for the sixth time, describing the emotional toll in a video shared on Wednesday.

The mother-of-one said the pregnancy had passed three months when she began to feel cramps.

“In February 2025, I experienced a pain that almost crushed me. I was pregnant well over three months. One of these days I was going about my day when I started to experience cramps. I said, ‘oh, okay, it was one of those things.’ And then trickles of blood and I said, ‘oh spotting’,” she said.

According to her, the situation worsened as the bleeding became heavy and would not stop.

“I was devastated because I understood what that meant automatically,” she said, adding that it was her sixth loss.

She was rushed to the hospital where doctors carried out a D&C procedure after confirming it was a missed miscarriage.

After returning home, she said she tried to cope by crying and telling herself she would be fine, but found the nights more difficult.

“In the silence of the night, I would experience a pain that I could not express,” she said. “I would wake and cry and say, Jesus, where are you?”

Judikay, whose real name is Judith Kanayo‑Opara, is married to Pastor Anselem Opara.

They exchanged vows in November 2020 and welcomed their first child, a son, in March 2022.

The singer, known for songs like ‘More Than Gold,’ has often spoken about her Christian faith and how it shapes her response to personal challenges.
