Media personality and actress Bisola Aiyeola has opened up about the emotional struggle she faced after learning she would become a single mother.
In an interview, Bisola said she felt shock and shame at the time, noting that her concerns were influenced by her family history, as her own mother also raised a child alone.
She explained that the situation made her worry about a recurring pattern and its possible effect on her daughter.
Bisola added that she had been engaged and expected to marry before having a child, which made the experience harder to process.
“I was scared and ashamed of being pregnant and having a baby out of wedlock. I thought I was going to get married because I was engaged at that time, but we never got married.
“So it was so shameful because my mum was a single mum and I am about to become one, I feared my child might also have the same fate,” she recalled.
According to her, her family’s financial struggles worsened her distress, especially during the early days of caring for her newborn.
The 40-year-old said she eventually came to terms with the situation and grew to cherish her daughter, regardless of the circumstances of her birth.
Bisola rose to prominence after finishing as first runner up on Big Brother Naija in 2017. Since then, she has built a career in film and television, featuring in projects such as Picture Perfect and Sugar Rush, while also working as a television host.
