Dancer and media personality Yeni Kuti has joined others in mourning disc jockey and entertainment promoter Raymond Browne, popularly known as DJ RayBee, who died after suffering a heart attack at Freedom Park, Lagos Island.
The incident occurred last week Tuesday shortly after DJ RayBee watched the UEFA Champions League match between Arsenal and PSG.
Browne, founder and CEO of the online radio station BrowneHill Radio, was well known and respected for his contributions to music, film and culture promotion.
Reacting to the sad news on Sunday, Yeni Kuti posted a tribute video on Instagram, showing moments shared with the deceased.
She wrote in the caption:
“I have been unable to post these pictures because I have been in shock and utter disbelief on the passing of our dear DJ Raymond Bola Brown. His passing caught us all unawares.
“I was with him last Friday, presenting him with Femi’s latest album. No sign. I would have hugged him hard one last time if I had any premonition that it would be the last time I would see him. I am grieving. We are all grieving.
“I fondly called him BB. I still haven’t come to terms with it. Such a great natured person. I never saw him angry. He was kind to everyone. They say the good die young. This is a great example of a great good person.
“Rest in Peace BB. We who you left behind mourn your loss. Words cannot describe how much we will miss you. A friend to everyone. A dependable friend. A loyal friend and brother. BB. An extraordinary man! Rest well.”
Since his death, tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues in the entertainment industry and others who knew him.
Survived by his son, siblings and many friends and admirers, DJ RayBee’s death has left a deep void.
One tribute summed up his legacy: “To know Raymond was to be welcomed, encouraged, and inspired.”
