Afro-juju legend Sir Shina Peters has revealed how he experienced major life milestones at a very young age, starting his career at the age of 10 and becoming a father at 14.

The 67-year-old made the revelation in an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast where he spoke about his early life and rise to fame.

“I started my career at the age of 10. I bought my first car at 13. I had my first child at 14. I built my first house at 16,” he said.

Shina added that by age 17, he was already dealing with legal matters that came with fame and fortune. “By 16 and 17, I was running to court here and there, three cases in a single day,” he added.

According to the Ogun-born artiste, despite being Yoruba, most of his fans come from the South-East. “Sixty-five percent of my fans are Igbos, not Yorubas,” he claimed.

Born Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, the singer began his career as a member of the group Olushina and His Twelve Fantastic Brothers before joining General Prince Adekunle’s band as a guitarist. He later teamed up with Juju star Segun Adewale before launching his own band, Sir Shina Peters & His International Stars.

He shot to national prominence in 1989 with his hit album Ace (Afro-Juju Series 1), which introduced his unique fusion of Juju and Afrobeat and earned him widespread acclaim.

Shina Peters, who is married to Sammie Peters, previously had a relationship with actress Clarion Chukwurah that produced their son, popular video director Clarence Peters.
