Mavin Records chief Don Jazzy has said the label spent between four million and five million dollars to promote Rema’s hit song ‘Calm Down.’
He spoke during an interview on the Toolz Bounce show on Bounce 89.1 FM, where he explained that promoting a song globally involves more than recording it. He said the process includes placing the music in different markets to reach listeners across the world.
Don Jazzy said:
“I spent like 4-5m to promote Calm Down. People don’t know.”
When asked how much the song has earned, he replied:
“A lot!”
‘Calm Down,’ released by Rema in 2022, later gained wider international attention through a remix with American singer Selena Gomez. The song became one of the most streamed Afrobeats tracks and appeared on major charts in countries including the United States and the United Kingdom.
It also crossed one billion streams on Spotify, a major milestone for the genre.
