I quit music because of 2Baba – Klint Da Drunk

Comedian Klint Da Drunk has said that his early dream of becoming a musician ended after he watched legendary singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, perform while they were both students at the Institute of Management Technology, Enugu.

He shared this during an interview with Naija FM, explaining that he was pursuing music when a performance by 2Face made him rethink his path.

“I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event, I left the hall,” Klint recalled.

He said the event was so powerful that he left abruptly and later gave up on music. “The organisers begged me to wait and perform after him. I agreed, but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would have continued making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”

Before focusing on comedy, Klint featured in the Nigerian hip‑hop track ‘Obodo’ by rapper Mr Raw and co‑founded a music group with him. The group finished second in the 2002 Star Quest talent show, losing to KC Presh.

After moving into comedy, Klint’s success opened opportunities in Nollywood. He has appeared in films including Men On The Run, Madam 10/10, Fast Cash and Lost Kingdom.

2Face Idibia, now known professionally as 2Baba, began his career at IMT, Enugu, as part of the group Plantashun Boiz and later became a solo artist with hits such as African Queen. His work has earned international recognition and awards.
