Filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has shared insights into his approach to performing kissing scenes in movies, revealing that he prays before each take to ensure he remains grounded and aligned with his values.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, Etim-Effiong discussed the role of faith in his acting career, particularly when portraying romantic characters.

He explained, “Before I go on set for a scene that involves kissing, I pray. I ask for grace to handle it well. My family grounds me, and my work is my calling.”

The actor emphasised that his decision to pursue acting was a purposeful one, leaving a promising engineering career to follow his passion for storytelling. He views his work as a form of worship, stating, “Acting allows me to tell stories that inspire people. For me, that’s a form of worship.”

Etim-Effiong also addressed the common inclusion of kissing scenes in Nollywood films, attributing it to market demand. He noted that producers often add such scenes because they attract viewers and boost engagement.

Despite facing criticism for his romantic roles, he remains focused on his craft and refuses to be distracted by naysayers. He remarked, “People think I do too many of them, but the real question should be for the producers. Why express affection in only one way when there are several others? Regardless, I stay focused and don’t let criticism distract me. I just concentrate on my work.”
