Singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has spoken about his relationship with his father.
In an interview with Korty Eo, he recalled leaving his father’s house after his dad opposed his decision to pursue music.
Asake said he shared a close bond with his father while growing up but described him as more stubborn, which made it difficult for him to confront him directly.
He said he left home at the age of 15, determined to follow his path.
“The father who gave birth to me, he’s more stubborn than I am. So I couldn’t look him in the face. We were close when I was younger, but I came to a point when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no. But I just took off regardless.
I was 15 then, focused on where I was going. And there was nothing anybody could tell me”, he said.
The singer added that his feelings towards his father have not changed, stressing that he still loves him deeply.
Asake’s comments come months after his father publicly called him out in a viral video, accusing the singer of abandoning him despite his success in the music industry. The development sparked reactions online.
The ‘Lonely at the Top’ singer has largely kept his family life away from the spotlight, focusing on his rise in the music industry since his breakthrough under YBNL Nation.
