Actress Ruth Kadiri has opened up about her struggle to stay true to herself while navigating the pressures of fame.
In an interview with Jay OnAir, the mother of two said, “The last thing I want to do as a person is to lose myself in the process of being an entertainer.”
The 37-year-old, known for films like Matilda and Love in the Wrong Place, explained that she tries to maintain a clear boundary between her public image and private life.
“I need to be able to keep the wealth of who I am, beyond the scripts, beyond the cameras,” she added.
Ruth said she has deliberately chosen to keep her personal life away from social media to protect her peace. “I am not hiding my husband, but I am keeping certain parts of my life private,” she has said in a past post.
The producer, who runs Ruth Kadiri Films, has become one of Nollywood’s leading figures on YouTube, consistently producing hit movies that attract millions of views.
Fellow actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde recently revealed that Ruth encouraged her to embrace YouTube filmmaking. “Ruth called me and said, ‘Mama, do you know what’s going on? There’s a whole revolution with YouTube.’ She showed me numbers and said, ‘You can do what you want on YouTube, but I think you should get in on this,’” Omotola said in a recent interview.
