Actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, popularly known as Kemity or Sidi, has revealed that she has two children from two different men, clarifying the circumstances behind her situation.
Speaking in an episode of Talk to B hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, Kemity said her first child came after she got pregnant for the man who disvirgined her. She added that he later died under tragic circumstances.
“I have two children for two men. The first man disvirgined me and I got pregnant. He later travelled to Malaysia, and he came back and was killed in a hotel. That was how I became a widow,” she said.
The actress explained that the pregnancy happened while she was still preparing for her WAEC exams. Despite the setback, her mother encouraged her to finish school and learn a trade. She chose catering and eventually began teaching to support herself and her child.
Kemity noted that people often criticise her without knowing her story.
“People are saying I have two kids with different men… without knowing the story behind it. Even my mum gave all her children the same father,” she said.
Addressing her second relationship, the actress said it ended due to infidelity despite the couple getting married legally.
“We had a court wedding… When the issue of extra marital affairs came up… he was no longer loving… You know we all have our limits and when I got to mine, I told him,” she added.
Kemity used the interview to send a message to critics and pray for single mothers who are working hard to raise their children.
“I am using this opportunity to pray for single mothers who work hard to raise their kids… And to those of you who abuse people because they have kids with different fathers… let’s pray you go through the same thing we went through,” she said.
She also reflected on the direction her life took, saying:
“It was never my intention to have children from different men. Life just happened. I only thank God that my children are doing well, and I’m able to care for them.”
Kemity, who is popular for her comic roles in Yoruba movies, won Best Comic Female Actress at the 2023 OAFP Awards. She is also known for her unique comic expressions, especially her signature one-eye wink, which she has clarified is part of her acting persona.
“A lot of people think I have one eye, it is for the comics, nothing happen to my eyes,” she said.
The actress’ real name is Oluwakemisola Apesin and she goes by the stage name Kemity, which is derived from her name and that of her children.
