Former Big Brother Naija star, Venita Akpofure, has expressed her grief over the tragic death of her cousin and childhood god-sister, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, an Arise TV anchor.

Venita took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to mourn her, writing:
“I can’t do this. I’ve been crying so badly. Sommie is my cousin/Godsister. I babysat her from childhood ❤️.”

She also shared an old 2023 tweet from Somtochukwu, in which the late anchor expressed unwavering support for Venita during her BBNaija journey.

Somtochukwu had described Venita as her god-sister and stressed that no public opinion would change her love and support, also warning against any negativity directed at her.

Fans have flooded Venita’s post with messages of condolence, offering prayers for both her and Somtochukwu’s family.

Somtochukwu Maduagwu, 29, was tragically killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, on Monday. Reports claimed that Sommie fell from her third-story balcony during the attack.
