I am not afraid of jail, Doris Ogala speaks after release

Actress Doris Ogala

Actress Doris Ogala has spoken publicly following her release from police custody in Lagos after a dispute involving Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City.

Doris was detained after making public claims about an alleged relationship with the cleric and accusing him of failing to keep a promise to marry her. The matter drew wide attention after she shared videos and posts on social media detailing her claims.

In a video released on Wednesday after regaining her freedom, the actress said she would not be silenced and insisted she was prepared to face any consequences as she tells her side of the story.

“I am not afraid of going to jail. I am not afraid of anyone. All I want is to speak my truth, and my truth I will speak,” she said.

Doris earlier expressed gratitude to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore and social media personality VeryDarkMan, acknowledging their roles during her detention. She said she did not expect their support but appreciated their intervention.

Before her arrest, Doris’ lawyers issued a demand notice to Pastor Okafor seeking N1 billion in damages over alleged emotional distress and breach of promise. The notice stated that legal action would follow if the matter was not resolved within a stipulated period.

Pastor Okafor has denied the allegations and, in a public address to his church members, maintained that anyone making claims must be ready to prove them. He said he was cooperating with the authorities and urged calm.

Reports later emerged that the pastor reached out to Ogala in an effort to resolve the dispute peacefully.

The controversy has continued to attract mixed reactions online, with many calling for restraint as legal and personal issues surrounding the case unfold.
