Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Hundeyin has handed over duties as Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Placid.

The handover took place on Tuesday at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House in Abuja.

The appointment of FPRO Placid was approved by the inspector-general of police Tunji Disu.

ACP Hundeyin had served as police spokesperson since September 2025.

He was appointed by former inspector-general Kayode Egbetokun.

Placid joined the police in 1996 as a cadet assistant superintendent of police at the Nigeria Police Academy and was commissioned in August 1998.

He was born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo and is from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

Placid holds a degree in geography and regional planning from the University of Uyo and a master’s degree in law and diplomacy from the University of Jos.

He also studied law at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

During his career, he served as police public relations officer in Adamawa State and at the Police Staff College.

He also worked as chief of training for the African Union mission in Sudan and later as head of training and development at the United Nations–African Union mission in Darfur.

Other roles he held include divisional police officer in Federal Housing Calabar, Bakassi, Uruan and Gembu, officer-in-charge of the anti-robbery unit in Kaduna State and assistant commissioner of police operations in Akwa Ibom and Kogi states.

In December 2025, he completed the senior executive course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and was inducted as a member of the institute.

IGP Disu became inspector-general of police after his appointment by Bola Tinubu. He succeeded Egbetokun, who resigned from the position.
